# Run the web-agentic playground

# Run the web-agentic playground

The product playground (`apps/playground`) is a zero-build browser UI for `@x12i/web-agentic-api`. It is built on [`@x12i/api-playground`](./api-playground.md) and only talks to the API over HTTP.

## Use this when

- You want to try web-agentic endpoints interactively
- You are validating search / retrieve / FuncX flows against a running API

## Steps

1. From the repo root: `pnpm build` (once) and optionally set `SERPER_API_KEY` / FuncX env.
2. `pnpm ui` — starts API **7080** + playground **7081** (zone `web-agentic-tools`), opens the browser.
3. Pick an endpoint in the left catalog (groups: Single resource, Discover and research, Collections and runs, FuncX intelligence).
4. Read docs in the center pane, fill Try-it on the right, submit.
5. Inspect Response views; use **Runs** for local history; **Environment** to change API base URL.

## Endpoint families (product catalog)

**Run** supports an offline **Try demo** path (no API). Search needs `SERPER_API_KEY` on the API host — the playground never receives the key.

## Verification

- Header status shows Connected (and “search ready” when Serper is configured)
- `GET http://127.0.0.1:7080/health` succeeds
- Submitting Search or Retrieve returns a Response pane with JSON / domain views

## Boundaries

- UI → REST only (no direct `@x12i/sdk` / Serper / FuncX imports in the browser)
- History and settings use `wa:*` localStorage keys
- Shell package: `@x12i/api-playground` (mounted at `/@api-playground/`)
